West Point Grey Daycare’s license allows for 12 children per day.

While we are mindful and understanding of the difficulties families face trying to place their child in a group license daycare in Vancouver, please note that we are unable to give you a specific start date, specific number on the wait list, or to guarantee that your child will be offered a space. If you choose to apply for our wait list there will be a wait time of a minimum of 12 months (usually it takes 12- 15 months) and we will not be able to offer or confirm a space until it opens up. Unfortunately, not every applicant will be able to join us, as demand far exceeds supply. We do not operate on a first come, first serve basis. 

We no longer accept applications past the age of 12 months due to our current wait times. 

Things to Note:

  • The wait list form must be mailed or dropped off in our mail box outside the building, please do not send registered mail or e-mail applications.  
  • No payment is required.
  • Please note that due to the high volume of applications we are no longer able to provide updates or confirm applications.
  • In order to avoid disruptions to our daily routine, your family will be invited to visit only when there is a potential space for your child.

How does the Wait List works?

  • Spaces will be offered to families based on availability and the following enrolment priority:
    • Existing families looking for additional days
    • Siblings of children currently enrolled in our program
    • Siblings of children who were previously enrolled in our program
    • Staff Members
    • Fairview Baptist Church members
    • All other applicants
  • We cannot guarantee a space for your child, however children will remain on the wait list until they are 36 months.
  • There is a shortage of toddler spaces in Vancouver, so we count on your patience to wait for a space. Applying for a space unfortunately will not guarantee enrolment. 
  • Wait times can take several months and all applications accepted to our wait list are eligible for upcoming spaces. When there is no chance of a potential space, the wait list will close. 

When a space is offered

  • When a space becomes available, parents will be notified by phone and a voice mail will be left, if there is no answer. If we do not hear from you within forty-eight (48) hours your child’s name will be removed from the waiting list.
  • Please make sure you have a voice mail on your phone or that your contact information is accurate. If we cannot reach you due to disconnected phones or no voice mail, we are unable to offer your child a space.
  • Once there is a potential space, an individual visit to the centre will be scheduled. Please read the information contained on this website before coming to visit. Visits do not guarantee spaces.
  • Once you come in to visit you have until 12pm the following day to accept the space, if available, either by phone or e-mail, if no contact is made by the family the space will be offered to the next family on our wait list.
  • Once you accept the space the Parent Agreement and a signed Pre-Authorized Debit Form for payment of daycare fees are required. Payment begins on the day the space is available without exception. No charges will be made prior to the first day of the month in which your child starts.
  • The space is only confirmed when an e-mail is sent to the family stating the start date and the next steps. Before the e-mail is received, there is no confirmation, as the availability can change without notice.

Disclaimer

Please note that Group License spots in Vancouver require significant wait times of 12 months, or longer and some families -including children from the priority list- will not be offered a space at all, as demand far exceeds supply. Although we understand and sympathize with the families who are in high need for spaces, we are unable to speed up the process or explain why spaces are offered the way it is. There is nothing that can be done to speed up the process or increase your chances of a space. 

By submitting your application you agree with the guidelines stated above and any form of verbal or written harassment will disqualify your application. Please do not follow-up on a weekly or monthly basis, we count on your patience to wait to be contacted by us. Please follow the guidelines for applications. Thank you.
