The purpose of West Point Grey Daycare is to promote opportunities for positive physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development for each individual child attending our Reggio Emilia play-based childcare program.
Program Objectives
- To provide a flexible and varied program to meet the needs of each individual child and to gratify the natural curiosity inherent in all children, so that each will develop to his or her potential emotionally, physically, socially, creatively, and intellectually.
- To provide an atmosphere of appreciation for the differences in people by promoting a healthy social interaction among the children, and between the children and staff, and by encouraging expression of feelings and sense of responsibility toward the well-being of others.
- To provide freedom for each child: freedom to be one’s self, to explore, to investigate, to take responsibility for one’s own actions, and above all, to learn that we all make mistakes, but we can learn from them and do differently next time.
- To guide and support the children in all their endeavours in order to help them develop a positive self-concept and a good feeling about the world in which they live in.
